1) Well,i wish i had a retro look…but i have no idea where to start from…could you name three essential items for a retro look to help me?

Hmm, only three…let’s see. I would have to say start with accessories. They are the most affordable and easiest to ease into a wardrobe. I think classic, but vintage sunglasses are a great place to start. I love Ray-Bans and recommend either the Clubmaster or Wayfarer, two styles that have been around for ages. Next, I would look for a vintage Coach purse online or in thrift stores. I prefer the smaller styles that you can wear across your body. And for my last item, I would suggest either a vintage or vintage inspired hat. Bowlers, fedoras, berets and swingers are all quite fun.

2)Bad hair day…what could i do?

If it’s because your hair is slightly oily, I suggest taking some corn starch and working it through the oily areas until it’s fully absorbed. Your hair will look as good as new. Also, for a really bad hair day, grab one of the aforementioned hats. Such a perfect way to look chic while hiding any problems. If all else fails, opt for a messy topknot or bun.

3)Favorite lip-stick color?

I have two- Revlon, Really Red and Chanel, Waikiki. One’s bold and the other is natural.

1) well,i wish i had a retro look…but i have no idea where to start from…could you name three essential items for a retro look to help me?

Hmmm, this is hard. I suppose that if I had to narrow it down to three items to create a retro look I would start with a vintage dress. I love vintage dresses from all different eras. They’re wonderful because you can accessorize them to look very retro and use them as a palette for creating numerous looks depending on what accessories you choose to pair with the dress.

Next, I would recommend a great pair of shoes. If you don’t like heels, oxfords are a wonderful alternative. I have a pair of black, vintage Oleg Cassini’s that I thrifted. I replaced the laces with red ribbons for a whimsical, feminine look. If you love heels (which I also do), a pair of t-straps or mary janes will add a retro feel to any outfit you wear them with. My current favorite is a pair of Born peep-toe, t-strap heels that I recently found for spring and summer.

Finally, a vintage (or vintage-inspired) cardigan or coat (depending on the time of year) can easily be worn with various outfits to create the look you desire.

2)Favorite lip-stick color?

I don’t like to fuss with my makeup throughout the day, but I do like to wear a strong red lip color. It feels very retro and if the lipstick is matte, the color doesn’t rub off easily.

My favorite color is dark berry or a blue-toned red. Max Factor makes a really good one (#60 Vivid Impact Lipcolor) that goes on creamy and then when you blot, it stains your lips so you get a really deep, long-lasting color. Sephora brand matte #9 is also a favorite of mine.
3)Bad hair day..any suggestions?

Whenever I’m having a bad hair day, I wear Heidi braids (otherwise known as milkmaid braids). My hair is shoulder-length, so this wouldn’t really work on shorter styles, but for anyone with longer hair, just part it down the back of your head into two sections and create a braid on each side, starting around your ears. Secure each end with an elastic. Then fold one side over the top of your head and secure with a barrette. Next fold the other braid over and tuck the end of it under the first braid and secure with another barrette. I then pin the braids down on the sides with bobby pins and voila! Bad hair day averted.
