Τα νυφικά γοβάκια The bridal shoes

Όταν η φίλη μου η Κατερίνα μου ζήτησε να την βοηθήσω στην αναζήτηση νυφικών παπουτσιών, δεν περίμενα ότι θα χρειαστώ τρία Σάββατα και ένα ζευγάρι αθλητικά για μένα. Από τις πρώτες ώρες το ψάξιμο άρχιζε να μοιάζει με το κυνήγι του χαμένου θησαυρού.

Μάζεψα όλη την εμπειρία και την μοιράζομαι σε tips μαζί σας.

Πρωινό 1ου Σαββάτου

Στον καφέ, πριν ξεκινήσουμε για το σαφάρι νυφικών παπουτσιών συμφωνήσαμε ότι τα νυφικά παπούτσια όχι μόνο πρέπει να έχουν τέλεια εφαρμογή, αλλά θα πρέπει να κολακεύουν τα πόδια μας, να ταιριάζουν με το νυφικό φόρεμα, να είναι αρκετά άνετα και να συμβαδίζουν το ύφος του γάμου. Kαταλήξαμε ότι θα πρέπει να είναι παπούτσια που θα μπορούν να φορεθούν ξανά. Στο δεύτερο μαγαζί η Κατερίνα διάλεξε να δοκιμάσει ένα ζευγάρι 12ποντες γόβες έχοντας ενδοιασμούς για το πόσο άνετες θα είναι. Ο πωλητής μας πρότεινε σαν λύση την προσθήκη μιας πλατφόρμας στο μπροστινό μέρος του παπουτσιού (tip 1). Έτσι και οι μικροκαμωμένες νύφες μπορούν να φορούν τα super ψηλά τακούνια με άνεση.

Σχετικά με τον στολισμό είδαμε λουλούδια, εξωφρενικές κορδέλες και φιόγκους, υφασμάτινες πτυχές, αστραφτερά φτερά και κρυστάλλινα διακοσμητικά σχέδια με Swarovski. Αυτό εξαρτάται κυρίως από το ύφος του γάμου και από την εποχή. Δεν ξέρω πως θα μπορούσαμε να ταιριάξουμε ένα πολύ εντυπωσιακό φόρεμα με ένα ζευγάρι εξίσου εντυπωσιακά παπούτσια. Ίσως ήταν υπερβολή. Έτσι καταλήξαμε πως τα παπούτσια που θα βρίσκαμε θα έπρεπε να τα δανειστούμε από το κατάστημα ώστε η Κατερίνα να τα δοκιμάσει με το νυφικό (tip 2). Οι πωλήτριες, συνηθισμένες σε κάτι τέτοιο, δεν μας έφεραν αντίρρηση και τις επόμενες μέρες όντως ανακαλύψαμε πως τα παπούτσια που είχαμε διαλέξει, σε συνδυασμό με το νυφικό δεν μας ευχαριστούσαν.

Πρωινό 2ου Σαββάτου

Η Κατερίνα ενώ ξεκίνησε αισιόδοξη προς τα μέσα της μέρας άρχισε να απογοητεύεται. ‘Η δεν θα έβρισκε το νούμερο της ή κάποια λεπτομέρεια δεν της άρεσε ή βρίσκαμε παπούτσια που δεν ξαναφορούσε ποτέ. Εκείνο το πρωί πραγματικά δοκιμάσαμε πάρα πολλά παπούτσια. Και λίγο πριν το κλείσιμο των μαγαζιών καταλήξαμε σε ένα. Ζητήσαμε και αυτή την φορά να τα πάρουμε ώστε να τα δοκιμάσουμε με το φόρεμα και μάλιστα οι πωλήτριες την ενθάρρυναν να περπατήσει και λίγο μ αυτά. (tip 3) Η Κατερίνα επέλεξε ένα ζευγάρι peep toe, μπεζ, 10ποντες γόβες, Christian Louboutin που δεν χρειάστηκε να τους προσθέσει πλατφόρμα γιατί ήταν ήδη πολύ άνετες, ένα ζευγάρι που λάτρεψε από την αρχή.

Πρωινό 3ου Σαββάτου

Επιβεβαιώσαμε ότι η επιλογή μας είναι η ιδανική προβάροντας τα παπούτσια με το φόρεμα. Η Κατερίνα σκέφτηκε να φοράει τα παπούτσια της μερικές ώρες την ημέρα μέσα στο σπίτι ώστε να μαλακώσει το υλικό και να μην την πληγώσουν (tip 4). Για να μην κινδυνεύει να γλιστρήσει και να πέσει στα σκαλιά της εκκλησίας, ζήτησε από έναν επαγγελματία να της λειάνει τα πέλματα με τραχύ γυαλόχαρτο (tip 5). Για extra άνεση αγόρασε και ένα ζευγάρι πιο άνετα και κομψά flat με την σκέψη να τ αλλάξει με τα ψηλά παπούτσια αν κουραστεί μετά την τελετή και την φωτογράφηση (tip 6).

Την ημέρα του γάμου, όσο η φίλη μου ετοιμαζόταν, εγώ χάζευα τα μπεζ -τέλεια- παπούτσια μέσα στο καφέ κουτί τους με την βελούδινη επένδυση. Σκεφτόμουν πως η πιο έξυπνη σκέψη από όλες ήταν αυτή της επιλογής ενός ζευγαριού που θα ξαναφορεθεί. Είμαι σίγουρη ότι κάθε φορά που η φίλη μου θα τα φοράει θα θυμάται και την μέρα του γάμου της.

When my friend Katerina asked me to help pick her bridal shoes, I did not expect that I would need three Saturdays and a pair of sport shoes for me. From the very beginning our search began to resemble a lost treasure hunt.

All the experience and tips I gathered this three Saturdays I’m going to share with you today.

1st Saturday morning

While drinking our coffee before starting “the safari” we agreed that the bridal shoes should not only fit perfectly, but should also flatter our feet, match the bridal gown, be quite comfortable and match the whole wedding concept. Also they were supposed to be shoes you can wear again. In the second shop, Katerina chose to try a pair of 12cm pumps having doubts about how comfortable they would be. The seller proposed the solution of adding a platform in the front part of the shoe. This way, “tiny brides” can wear super high heels with ease. (Tip 1)

Regarding the wedding adornment, we checked flowers, extravagant ribbons and bows, fabric aspects, glittering brooches, feathers and crystal patterns with Swarovski crystals. All these offcourse have to do mainly with the style of the wedding and the season. I do not know how we could fit a very striking dress with a pair of equally impressive shoes. Maybe it was a little too much. So we thought that it would be a good idea that we should ask from the store to let us borrow the shoes we would pick so that Katerina could try them along with the dress (tip 2). The sellers were probably used to such arrangements and did not object, luckyly enough we realised that the shoes we choose combined with the wedding dress did not please our likes.

2nd Saturday Morning

Even though Katerina started her day beeing quite optimistic towards noon time she started getting disappointed. It would either be the size that didn’t fit or some very stricking details we she did not like or we would find shoes that she could never wear again apart from her wedding.

This Saturday she really tried on too many pairs of shoes. Just before shops closed we ended up finding one. Like we did last time we also asked to take them with us so Katerina could try them on with the wedding dress. This time the sellers encouraged my friend to try them on and walk around a bit with them (tip 3). Katerina this time chose a pair of peep toe, beige, 10cm pumps by Christian Louboutin, which did not need to add the platform because it was already very comfortable, a pair that she loved from the beginning.

3rd Saturday Morning

We confirmed that our choice was ideal when Katerina tried on her shoes along with the dress. Katerina decided that she would wear her brand new shoes a few hours every day at home in order to soften the material so that they wouldn’t hurt her (tip 4). In order not to slip and fall on the church’s marble stairs, she asked a professional to smooth the soles of the shoes with rough sandpaper (tip 5).

For extra comfort Katerina also decided she would have with her another pair of stylish, flat shoes, that she would be wearing during the reception so that she would be able to enjoy her dancing all night long (tip 6).

On the day of the wedding while my friend was getting ready I was dawdling the-perfect-beige shoes in their brown box with a velvet lining.

I thought that a smartest thing we did was that of selecting a pair of shoes that she could wear again. I am sure that every time my friend will wear them she will remember her wedding day.
